Agricultural Education

N: “How did you become passionate about agricultural education?”
C: “Well, I grew up on a farm. So agriculture has always been a huge part of my life. I grew up working with animals, specifically cows, and I always had chickens in my backyard and we always collected the eggs and we always had a really strong ag program in my high school, so I joined FFA (Future Farmers of America), which is a leadership program through agriculture-it’s a club-and I would learn leadership development, and I got to have a really influential role on the younger members as I got officer positions and I really liked explaining to the youth in my classes and in the club what agriculture is all about and where their food comes from. At local fairs, I would be in Ag booths, and I would educate people who would come to visit in Dutchess county where their food comes from and how farm life is and what goes on on the farm, and I really just liked informing people about agriculture because not a lot of people know about it. So it’s a huge part of my life, and I just want to share that with a lot of people, and I grew up with a lot of younger cousins who I loved babysitting and spending time with so I grew a passion for educating.
